If you suspect a “Romance Scam” take the photo from the website and do a Google Image Search… it may turn up multiple identities for the same photo.
Tragically the real man who is pictured… probably has no idea his photo is being used by a foreign romance scammer to steal money. He is probably married and not on dating websites and won’t find out unless a real friend of the real man informs him his image is being hijacked to use to scam lonely women (or men).
Beware of contact from “super hunky” or “very good looking” people contacting you. Beware of average looking people contacting you who proclaim serious affection without having met you. Do a Google Image search before you reveal private information. Never send money to anyone you have not met in person, no matter what tragic story you are told.
I’m confident, kind… a true gentleman, humorous, good listener, active, athletic, stable, practicing Christian very connected to my church, who wants to be in a serious relationship leading to marriage.
For physical activities I enjoy hiking, backpacking & camping as well as boot camp and weight training and golf.
This 60 minutes report is a particularly sad story about a woman who has all of the signs of Romance Addiction. Desperate for attention and love outside of herself, she ignored the red flags that the relationship did not “add up”. Pay attention to where many of the scammers are working from (Nigeria, Ghana, Thailand, Russia), that they are any age, even minors, pretending to be whatever age or image they believe will appeal to their intended target. They work in teams to figure out what to say to you and get multiple cell phones in order to pull off the illusion of living in the U.S., Australia, England, Canada, wherever the target lives.. This is an extreme example, in that the target knew that the man was much younger than she is. However, it shows how desperately someone wanted to be loved and what she was willing to ignore in order to feel loved and she fell victim to a fraud. This could happen to your mom, they often prey upon seniors.
